Originally a student project, I began to explore alternative techniques such as rotoscoping and using 3D as reference to inform my style for this piece. I realized that not all of the elements were working together after my first try, then got a little more direction with a brief from the client who said they really wanted more brand integration and arcade style graphics.
Guardian Con - Texas Arcade
Role: Art Direction, Design
Creative Direction - Joshua Brouillette
Created: 2018-2019
While trying to create a motion graphic that announces an event, I decided to reach out to the team at GuardianCon. Every year they put on a video game convention that raises support for Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
For this project I got to work under the direction of Joshua Brouillette who provided the year’s color scheme, guidelines and overall needs for the video.
My concept was to create a nostalgic video game experience that would get viewers excited to see and play these games at the convention. Inspirations were drawn from 8 bit games, Dance Dance Revolution, and other arcade-style games with a retro spin.
